Great Room Faux Beams

Add faux beams to the great room ceiling. Definitely want one full ridge beam spanning the entire ceiling peak. Undecided on whether to add spaced rib beams running from the ridge down to the walls.

Install decorative faux wood beam(s) on great room vaulted cathedral ceiling. Primary beam: one full ridge beam spanning the entire peak (approx 24ft), which will also conceal existing drywall seam at ridge. Secondary beams: bid both with and without 4–6 rafter-style rib beams running perpendicular down the slopes. Beams to be stained to complement existing hardwood floors. Ceiling fan at ridge must be addressed in bid.

Vaulted/cathedral ceiling with knockdown texture, white/off-white finish. Clear ridge line seam running full length at peak. 5-blade ceiling fan with short downrod mounted at ridge on angled adapter. Approximately 8–10 recessed LED can lights across both ceiling slopes. One HVAC supply vent on right slope. Open-concept layout — adjacent to kitchen. Hard-surface flooring (protection required during install).

Great room approx 24ft × 20ft. Ceiling height at walls: ~8–9ft. Ceiling peak at ridge: ~12–14ft. Estimated roof pitch: 4:12 to 6:12. Ridge beam span: full room length.

Homeowner will select beam product (likely faux wood, e.g. Volterra or similar). Contractor supplies blocking, hardware, and labor.

Ceiling fan is currently mounted at the ridge line — ridge beam installation will need to address this (relocate fan, mount through beam, or route around it). 8–10 recessed can lights on both ceiling slopes — beam spacing must work around them. HVAC vent on right slope must remain unobstructed. Scaffolding required (peak ~12–14ft). Knockdown texture ceiling — mounting areas may need prep.
